Oct 8 | 8 AM - 4 PM | Colorado College Open House: Students and families can tour, hear a student panel, and take a mock class to experience the college’s unique “block plan” firsthand.
Oct 21 | 9 AM - 4:30 PM | The Aggie Experience at NMSU: Features Student Panels, Department Presentations, and Live Demonstrations.
Nov 4 | 9 AM - 3 PM | New Mexico Tech Exploration Day: This event for future Miners should not be considered a ‘minor’ event. Rumor is there will even be a drone battle competition for all to witness!
VIRTUAL EVENTS (MT)
Ongoing | The STARS Network has a series of free virtual for students, educators, and families.
Oct 11 | 5 PM | Virtual College Fair: Features all 16 STARS member institutions.
Oct 12 | 5 PM | Counselor Q&A: An interactive discussion with seasoned admissions staff and high school counseling colleagues.
Oct 16 | 6 PM | STARS Partner Spotlight: Learn about RISE, a program that provides young people (ages 15 to 17) support in the form of need-based scholarships, mentoring, career development opportunities, and funding for projects.
Nov 7 | 6 PM | College student panel: Features students from rural areas who attend RISE member institutions. They’ll describe the transition from a rural or small-town high school to a large university setting.
Oct 18 | 11 AM | Barnard, Colorado College, Rice, Tufts, and Yale Virtual Information Session for Rural & Small Town Counselors: Admission officers from these five colleges will present about holistic admissions, crafting a college list, financial aid, and how to support students from rural areas and small towns in the transition to college.
Oct 25 | 4-7 PM | Imagine Bates: A virtual program for students interested in Bates College. All seniors are welcome to attend, and students from underrepresented backgrounds (like first-generation and low-income students) are encouraged to apply. Attendees will join their fellow peers, current Bates students, and admission staff for a unique virtual event on Zoom, where they can experience and hear what life and learning is like at Bates.
Nov 5 | 1-2:30 PM | Cornell Native American and Indigenous Student Panel: A panel discussion with current American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program (AIISP) student ambassadors and AIISP staff about the Indigenous community at Cornell, Akwe:kon (the Indigenous Program House), Indigenous student groups, and programs and resources for AIISP students.
SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID
The Daniels Scholarship is for low-income students in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. The deadline is October 15, giving students just over a month to apply.
The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship for high-achieving caddies. The application deadline is October 15.
The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards recognize Hispanic/Latinx students who excel both in the classroom and in the community. There are 31 total scholarships available. The minimum GPA requirement is a 3.0. The application deadline is November 13.
The Prudential Emerging Visionaries program awards scholarships up to $15,000. Students ages 14-18 are eligible to apply. The program is intended for students who want to start a project that will create change in their community. The deadline to apply is November 2.
The Elks Scholarship ranges from $1,000-$7,500 per year, and is awarded to 500 students nationwide. The application deadline is November 15.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship is a last dollar scholarship that covers the remaining balance after institutional financial aid. Along with the scholarship, recipients receive personalized advising related to college selection, financial aid, the transition to college, and maximizing the student experience. The application deadline is November 16.
The Hagan Scholarship deadline is December 1. The scholarship covers unmet need, gives money to students to invest in the stock market, and covers study abroad costs.
December 1 is the priority scholarship deadline for most in-state and WUE schools.
