Learn more about what’s on the Davis New Mexico Scholarship application.

1. Common Application

The Davis New Mexico Scholarship requires a Common Application. The Common App includes the following parts:

  1. Demographic, school, and family information.

  2. Common Application Essay. See prompts here.

  3. Activities section: What do you do outside of school, homework, sleeping, and eating? Do you play sports? Are you part of a club? Do you have family or cultural responsibilities? Take care of family members or work at a job? Show us and colleges who you are and what you care about.

Please note that as part of your application, you will need to apply Early Action to at least one partner college through the Common Application.


2. Partner Colleges

For this section, you will need to review the Davis New Mexico Scholarship Partner Colleges and be prepared to explain which schools you are excited to apply to.

  1. Which Davis New Mexico Scholarship Partner College is your top choice? Please explain why. (250 words)


3. Additional Writing Requirements

We ask applicants to submit two additional essays responding to the following prompts:

  1. Reflect on a time when you overcame a significant or extended challenge (do not write about a single assignment/test in school). How did you respond? What did you learn? (500 words)

  2. Explain your involvement with the affiliate organization through which you are applying. How did this organization and its programs impact you? If your affiliate organization is your high school, please write about how your school has prepared you to be successful in college. (250 words)


4. Recommendations, Transcript, & Other Paperwork

Your Counselor will need to use the Common Application to upload the following documents. You will need to invite your counselor to the Common Application using the Davis New Mexico Scholarship’s Recommenders and FERPA page.

  1. Transcript and School Forms: A copy of your transcript and other school forms must be uploaded by your school counselor.

  2. Letter of Recommendation: the Davis New Mexico Scholarship requires one letter of recommendation, either from your school counselor, if you work closely with them, or from the College Access Counselor at the Affiliate Organization you are working most closely with.
