Our Goal

The Davis New Mexico Scholarship breaks the generational opportunity gap in New Mexico.

We support first-generation college-going students as they earn a Bachelor's degree and become economically self-sufficient adults.

+

We create and strengthen pathways to higher education for all first-generation college-going students.

We were founded in 2014 with an explicit charge: to ensure more first-generation college-going New Mexican students complete a four-year degree. Since then, we’ve awarded more than $54 million in scholarships and $3.7 million in grant awards.

“We set out to prove that with the right resources and support, dedicated students from New Mexico can compete with their peers nationwide. Giving New Mexican students the opportunity to grow and learn alongside students from around the country will ultimately benefit every New Mexican.”

- Andrew Davis, Founder, Davis New Mexico Scholarship

Our impact is clear.

Davis New Mexico Scholars enroll in college. They persist in college. More than 9 in 10 will graduate in four years. According to The Center for First-generation Student Success, the 4-year graduation rate for first-generation college-going students is just 27%. Our numbers aren’t a fluke. They’re the result of dedicated scholars, targeted student support, and intentional collaboration across our affiliate organizations in New Mexico and partner colleges across the country.
